Wetsuit Information from Tiki Wetsuits UK

BACK IN 1963...
Tiki began, when Tim Heyland and Dave Smith shaped some of the first surfboards in Britain. In 1969 we produced our first wetsuits. Considered state of the art at the time, they were timely relief to the frigid waters of Britain.

40 YEARS ON...

Tiki remain at the forefront of wetsuit technology. Our products are backed by almost a generation of surfing in Britain (UK), plus the experience gained through innumerable trips around the world. We have worked closely with our material suppliers and manufacturers in a continuous quest to advance technology and guarrantee quality. Feedback from our international team of surfers, including guys like Joel Fitzgerald and Mick Klaunzer, ensure our wetsuits are at the highest level of performance.

As a British (UK) company we understand the demands of the North Atlantic and focus our equipment on meeting these needs. Being surfers ourselves means we share the demands of our customers, hence we believe our wetsuits are unequalled for performance and price. With our roots firmly established, we remain at the core of surfing.

United Kingdom temp guideWetsuit Usage:

Our wetsuits are designed primarily for surfing. However, they are suitable for most other watersports. The ADV wetsuits are particularly versatile and have been used for kite surfing, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, diving and even bore riding!

Shown on the right is a rough temperature guide for the coastal waters of Britain (UK) and the suitability of each wetsuit. Clearly this is largely dependant on personal preference and should be used only as a rough guide.

NOTE:

Only enter the water if you are confident in your abilities to do so. Getting into trouble is both a danger to yourself and potentially to others.
When surfing, make sure you know the basic rules, they are there for your own good.
Do not drop-in.

Wetsuit Care:

The longevity of your wetsuit can be increased by following these simple guidelines;
- Always rinse your wetsuit in fresh water after every surf
- Do not hang you wetsuit in direct sunlight
- Always put on and take off your wetsuit with care (this is the most common cause of failure).

Should i wee in my wetsuit?!

Well, there’s no denying that it can add some vital warmth on those chilly days and of course its entirely up to you if you’re ok with the idea of wetting yourself.
However, be warned! Firstly, our liquid sealed suits are very well sealed. You may end up sitting in a puddle!
Secondly, and most importantly, urine contains various rubber destroying chemicals, ammonia for one. Ultimately using your own central heating system will have a detrimental effect on your wetsuit. For this reason we advise people not too. (And incidently, urine related wetsuit failure is not covered by the warranty!

The Tiki Wetsuit range is split as follows;

The top-end performance wetsuits (the TK range) are all blindstitched. Combined with all the latest features for performance and warmth, they are a must for anyone serious about their surfing or general water-time.

The flatlocked suits are designed with a greater focus on durability and value. The TECH2 range is therefore the perfect solution for the summer beach goer looking for all of the benefits of top end pattern and construction at a price you can’t ignore.

The ADV range uses both methods according to which model; summer (flatlocked for strength) or winter (blindstitched for warmth).

SuperstretchThe quality of neoprene jersey used in our suits is of the highest grade available. Aside from being the key element to performance, it is the least durable part of any wetsuit and is therefore a significant factor in any purchase as a low grade neoprene will delaminate and perish. Our quality is guarranteed.
